Local playoff roundup: Lawrence goes over 1,000-point mark in SP playoff win

Boys
South Point 62, Tuscola 65 — Christian Lawrence (12 points) scored his 1,000th career point for South Point in the loss. Quinton Reeves contributed 12 points for South Point, while Taylor Williams led the Red Raiders with 24 points. Dustin Wells led Tuscola with 27 points. South Point ends its season with a record of 12-10.  

East Lincoln 76, East Burke 60 — Seniors Kendall Bethea (18 points) and Marquise McLean (17 points) led the Mustangs while.  Wes Bess added 11 points and sophomores, Antwaine McLean and Patrick Rendleman both had 10 points.  East Lincoln outscored East Burke 40-22 in the 1st half and held on in the 2nd to take the win. The Mustangs will play against either Berry Academy on the road or host Thomasville on Wednesday.

Freedom 70, Ashbrook 66 — Zeek Bigger had 23 points 13 rebounds as Ashbrook (8-16) nearly pulled a first-round upset Monday. Justin Byrd added 12 points and five assists while Blake Payne chipped in 11 points for the Green Wave, which led by one late. Anthony Thomas poured in 20 points to lead Freedom (17-10).

Girls
East Lincoln 62, TW Andrews 45 — Kiandra Long led all East Lincoln scorers with 28 points. Lindsy Wright added 14 points in the win, while Akelya Forney contributed 13. TW Andrews was led by Bria Byrd with 23 points.

St. Stephens 49, Ashbrook 36 — Whitney Collins led the Green Wave (15-10) with 13 points in a losing effort. St. Stephens put together a 16-8 run in the fourth quarter en route to the win.
