Former Ashbrook High standout Kayla Short has signed with South Carolina Upstate to continue her collegiate softball career.
Short spent the last two years at Walters State in Morristown, Tenn., where as a sophomore she went 23-16 with five saves and hit .306 with 15 home runs and 60 RBIs. The 2005 Ashbrook graduate earned all-conference and Tennessee Junior College all-Eastern Division honors and was also named to the all-tournament team.
At South Carolina Upstate, Short will join four other local standouts in the program’s first Division I recruiting class: Kings Mountain’s Morgan Childers and Courtney Tate and North Lincoln’s Courtney Feldon and Jenna Torbert.
