Highland Tech held to 60 yards in shutout loss

Jared Pluciniczak had three touchdowns, and Bishop McGuinness shut down Gastonia Highland Tech’s offense Friday in Kernersville.

Pluciniczak rushed 10 times for a game-high 77 yards and had touchdown runs of 18 and 7 yards. He also returned an interception 35 yards for another touchdown. The Villains’ Peter Fields added another interception return for a touchdown (30 yards), Kyle Ridenhour caught a 7-yard touchdown pass from Nick Sgroi, and Marty DeFrancesco had a 24-yard touchdown run.

Sgroi completed 4 of 5 passes for 65 yards and went 7 for 7 on extra-point kicks.

Bishop McGuinness was dominant on defense. It held Highland Tech to just three first downs and intercepted four passes. Highland Tech completed just 1 of 13 passes (for 14 yards) and gained 47 yards on 28 carries (1.7 ypc).
