Highland Tech senior to run track collegiately

Highland Tech senior Aaron Tribble signed a national letter of intent to run track and field at Western Carolina in Cullowhee.

Tribble has enjoyed a distinguished high school track career, most notably winning the 500 meters at the 1A/2A/3A state indoor championships in February.

In 2009, he was named the overall most outstanding athlete at the Little Gaston County Track Meet at Bessemer City by winning the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters and high jump. He was also voted overall most outstanding athlete at the 2009 Gaston County championships after winning the high jump, placing second in the 400, finishing fourth in the 100 and taking fifth in the 200.

Tribble was selected to The National Society of High School Scholars in 2008. He began running track in 1998 for the Gastonia Eagles. In 2002, he began running track for the Gastonia Jaguars and has competed regionally and nationally, winning numerous medals and awards.
