Three locals earn all-state baseball honors

Three local players were named to the 2010 North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association All-State Baseball Teams.

East Lincoln’s Parker Hills made the 2A team while Cherryville’s Blake Mosteller and Bessemer City’s Seth Weekley were listed on the 1A team.

Hills, Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference player of the year as a pitcher/catcher, went 7-4 on the mound with one save and a 2.80 ERA. The rising senior batted .382 and tied for second in area with five home runs.

Mosteller, a rising senior, was the Ironmen’s MVP after batting .368 and pitching six saves. Weekley, also a rising senior, batted .468 with 10 RBIs and pitched both of Bessemer City’s playoff wins.

All three were first-team All-Gazette selections.

Also making the 2A team was Cherryville resident and East Rutherford star Drew Reynolds, MVP of the 2A state championship series.
