What’s Next: The Chargers continue their State 4A march Tuesday at home at 6 p.m. They host the winner of the South Mecklenburg-West Forsyth contest.
Double Duty: Senior Lindsey Ellis displayed multiple talents. She started out by singing the National Anthem and then quickly returned her focus to the game. She finished the contest with five kills and eight aces with extremely effective jump serve.
First Game: At first it appeared as if it may be an even match. The two teams were deadlocked at 10-10. Then it was as if someone lit a fire under the Chargers, who went on a 15-2 run to win.
Chargers Prevail: The visiting Rams didn’t seem to have an answer for the unrelenting Chargers. Junior Cheyenne Cash continued her strong play notching 12 kills and four aces.
More Stats: Along with Cash and Ellis providing solid efforts, junior Jasmine Thurman finished with six kills and five aces.
From the coaches: “Winners train, losers complain,” Harding coach William A.J. Dingle Jr. kept reiterating. “Crest is a solid team that has a good chance to make a run in the state playoffs, their front line gave us problems, but we aren’t going to make excuses,” continued coach Dingle.
“We played our game, and we played well. Lindsey Ellis’ jump serve was really effective today. We are going to use Monday to prepare us for Tuesday’s contest,” said Crest’s coach Jaime Wilson.
