KINGS MOUNTAIN — Kings Mountain swept Chase in the Southwestern 2A/3A Conference volleyball opener for both teams.
Marshia Meeks paced the Lady Mountaineers at the net with nine kills, while Chasiti Falls dished out 12 assists and served up four aces.
Kings Mountain (3-0, 1-0 SWC) hosts a tri-match today. The Mountaineers face Charlotte Country Day at 4:30 p.m., then Dorman, S.C. at approximately 7:30 p.m.
Crest spikes Ashbrook
The Crest High varsity and junior varsity girls volleyball squads posted Big South Conference wins against the Ashbrook Green Wave Tuesday.
Varsity: Crest lifted its record to 2-1 on the year with a 3-0 triumph in its first league match. The Lady Chargers won 25-10, 25-18, 25-11.
Lindsey Ellis had six kills and went eight-for-nine on serve with six aces. Erin McWhirter provided 20 assists and went 22-for-24 on serve with eight aces.
Crest plays at Forestview Thursday.
Junior varsity: The Crest JV girls scored their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory against Ashbrook. The junior Lady Chargers won 25-14, 14-25, 25-21.
Amber Glover had two blocks for Crest, Kaitlyn Washburn went 15-for-18 on serve and Tianna Turner went 10-for-11 serving for Crest, now 1-0 in the league and 1-3 overall.
