Boys varsity soccer
Highland Tech 6, North Gaston 2 — Highland Tech secured its first win of the season with two goals each from Aaron Marlowe and Michael Gomez. Also scoring for Highland were Jeremy Nortey and Zach Vlasich. J.C. Escobar contributed three assists. Andrew Harris and Jonathan Hilton also contributed one assist each. Matt Farmer registered seven saves for the Rams.
Hunter Huss 3, R-S Central 3 — Cody Jones had two goals for Hunter Huss, while Reyes Cruz added one goal. Mario Aquilar dished out an assist for the Huskies (2-2-1), who travel to East Gaston on Sept. 8.
Varsity volleyball
Forestview 3, East Lincoln 0 (25-21, 25-17, 27-25) — Megan Brunnemer posted 10 kills to lead Forestview. Allyson Wiggins chipped in nine kills for the Jaguars (6-1), who travel to Crest on Tuesday in Big South 3A Conference play.
The Kings Mountain volleyball team fell in a pair of exhibition matches Tuesday, 21-25, 18-25 to Southside Christian and 13-25, 16-25 to Dorman.
Morgan Robinson (8 kills), Emily Yarbro (10 assists) and Emily Gates (9 digs) paced the Lady Mountaineers against Southside Christian, while Nicole Ford (4 kills), Cailyn Hughes (7 assists), Sarah Blackburn (2 blocks) and Tori Glass (5 digs) led KM against Dorman.
The Mounties start Big South 3A play with today’s home match against South Point, starting with a 4:30 p.m. JV match before the varsity contest.

East Lincoln 2, Forestview 1 (27-25, 13-25, 25-23) — Sydney Harris had eight kills for Forestview (2-3), who visit Crest on Tuesday in Big South 3A Conference play.
