Gaston Day duo reaches 1,000; Knights guard sets record

Gaston Day’s Keyshawn Woods, left, and Sydney Stephens were honored with game balls after reaching a pair of milestones last week.

Woods, a 6-foot-3 guard, reached 1,000 points for his career during last Friday’s 94-69 win over Covenant Classical. Only a sophomore, Woods is averaging 26.3 points to lead the area. He’s already received offers from Charlotte and Wichita State.

Stephens hit a mark rarely seen by grabbing her 1,000th career rebound, also during Friday’s game against Covenant Classical. The 5-foot-10 senior forward leads the area at 13.6 rebounds per game and also averages 5.6 points.

Assist record broken

North Lincoln’s Travis Cannon broke the school assist record with his 163rd Tuesday against North Lincoln. Cannon, a 6-foot senior guard, is averaging 11.8 points, 3.2 assists and 3.5 rebounds.
