East-West recap: Jags' Jeter scores TD, Smith girls hoops MVP
Local athlete Kevin Jeter carried a big load offensively in Wednesday’s East-West All-Star Football Game in Greensboro.
The Forestview running back scored a touchdown and served as a primary ball carrier, helping the West to a 22-7 win in the 62nd annual game at Greensboro Grimsley’s Jamieson Stadium.
Jeter’s touchdown covered nine yards and gave the West a 22-0 lead with 7:02 remaining. Jeter helped set up the touchdown with a hook-and-lateral play. Quarterback Ben Walgenbach (Hendersonville) passed to wideout Banks Jenkins (Myers Park), who then pitched the ball to Jeter on a play that covered 29 yards.
“He played a lot and he played hard, so I was proud of him,” Forestview coach Chris Medlin said. “I was excited he scored there near the end.”
Jeter was the Gaston-Lincoln area’s lone representative in the football game. He plans to play football and run track at Brevard.
