KM finishes SWC slate unscathed

KINGS MOUNTAIN — The Kings Mountain volleyball team finished off its second straight unbeaten season in the Southwestern 2A/3A Conference with a three-game victory over Burns Tuesday.
Match scores: 25-8, 25-13, 25-11.
Stats: Marshia Meeks (14 kills), Brooke Avery (11 assists), Kristen Batchler (six aces) and Jordan Page (eight digs) paced the Lady Mountaineers.
Next: Kings Mountain (21-3, 15-0 SWC) will open up the 3A state playoffs Saturday at home.
Lions sweep East Rutherford
Shelby High’s Katrina Jiamachello posted 12 kills and had seven digs along with five service aces in a three-game sweep over East Rutherford at Lloyd Little Gym Tuesday.
Match scores: 25-16, 25-10, 25-12.
More stats: Morgan Koder added 10 kills and four blocks for the Lady Golden Lions (13-9, 7-7 SWC). Patience Smith had 24 assists, three kills and two blocks.
Next: Shelby finishes out the regular season at home today against Chase.
Crest tops Warriors in Big South semifinals
Crest defeated East Gaston Tuesday night in the semifinals of the Big South 3A/4A Conference tournament.
Match scores: 25-15, 25-14, 25-28, 27-25.
Stats: Jasmine Thurman had 16 kills and had four blocks for the Chargers (17-4 overall), while Cheyenne Cash had 10 kills and was 12-13 serving with two aces. Katelyn Waters was 14-of-15 on serves.
Next: Crest hosts North Gaston in the tournament championship today at 6 p.m.
