Lincoln County duo named all-state

East Lincoln’s Antwaine McLean and Lincolnton’s Michael Cunningham were selected to the NCPreps.com 2A all-state team.

McLean, who led the Gaston-Lincoln area in receptions (46), receiving yards (897) and touchdown catches (11), was one of three wide receivers on the 11-man all-state offense.

Cunningham, the Gazette and conference defensive player of the year, was chosen at defensive back for the 11-man all-state defense after leading the Wolves to a state title appearance. Cunningham had 111 tackles, including 21 for loss, plus two interceptions and two sacks.

The 2A all-state team was released Monday. The website on Sunday announced its 1A all-state team with no area players. The 3A and 4A teams haven’t been announced.
