TUESDAY'S KEY GAMES
Boys: South Point (11-5, 4-5) at Forestview (3-5, 7-1) — Forestview has a chance to avenge its only Big South 3A Conference loss while South Point looks to break a four-game losing streak. South Point won the first meeting 78-66 but has slipped all the way to fourth place in the Big South. Forestview owns a half-game lead over Ashbrook and Hunter Huss for first place.
Girls: South Point (10-6, 6-3) at Forestview (16-2, 8-0) — This is a battle between the Big South 3A Conference’s first- and third-place teams, but Forestview hasn’t had a competitive league game all season. The Jaguars have defeated their Big South opponents by an average of 38.9 points, with the closest game a 15-point win against Crest, a team they beat 66-36 the next time around. As for the matchup with South Point, Forestview won the first meeting 72-24. Forestview will still be without two suspended starters, but their absences sure didn’t bother the Jaguars in Friday’s 68-32 rout of North Gaston.
Boys: Lincolnton (15-2, 10-0) at Highland Tech (11-5, 8-2) — The top two teams in the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference will go head-to-head for a second time this season, with the Rams hoping to avenge a 70-54 loss from earlier in the month. Lincolnton owns a two-game lead atop the SPC standings and would clinch a share of its first conference title since 2000 with a win Tuesday.
