Gazette Cup pushed back a day
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Snowy weather prompted Gaston County Schools to call off all after-school activities Tuesday, including the Girls Gazette Soccer Cup.
All games for the remainder of the week were pushed back a day. Tuesday’s games will take place Wednesday, Wednesday’s games will be played Thursday and Thursday’s games will move to the Friday make-up date that was worked in to the original schedule.
Ashbrook is prepared to host Wednesday’s games at its stadium if the City of Gastonia decides not to open Martha Rivers Park, tournament director Chad Duncan said.
The final round is still scheduled for Saturday at Ashbrook, but Duncan moved each game 90 minutes earlier to take advantage of possible warmer temperatures. Game times will be 1 p.m., 2:30, 4 and 5:30. — Phillip Gardner
