Prep notebook: South Point's Hunt named Big South's top keeper
South Point’s Tristan Hunt was voted the Big South 3A Conference’s goalkeeper of the year in voting by the league’s head coaches.
League champion Kings Mountain led the all-conference soccer team with five selections in addition to player of the year Meagan Reynolds. Crest’s Zachary Wortman and Arik Lemmon shared coach-of-the-year honors.

Three East Gaston baseball players were named to MEGA 7 3A/4A all-conference team. Logan Armstrong, Kevin Conn and J.P. Wilder earned the distinction.
West Mecklenburg’s Nick McGee was voted player of the year by the league’s coaches, and Charlotte Catholic’s Randy Belk was named coach of the year.

New job for ex-Knights coach
Former North Lincoln boys basketball coach Mike Hainrihar will take the same job at Fred T. Foard, pending school board approval, according to the Hickory Daily Record.
Hainrihar, 29, resigned after two seasons at North Lincoln, where he went 12-38. Hainrihar will serve as a non-faculty coach, replacing Lance Watson.
Final tennis ranking
Highland Tech ended the season with a No. 6 ranking in the final North Carolina High School Tennis Coaches Association 1A boys state poll.
The Southern Piedmont Conference champion Rams finished 12-4 after a third-round playoff loss to East Montgomery.
Correction
North Lincoln’s Drew Belk was selected to the All-Southern Piedmont 1A/2A Conference baseball team. His name was incorrectly listed in Tuesday’s edition.
