Lincolnton's Turner wins 2A gold
Lincolnton junior Morgan Turner won the 3,200 meters at the 2A state track and field championships Friday in Greensboro.
Turner completed the race in 11 minutes, 35.53 seconds, beating her closest competitor by almost three seconds. Her time would have placed her fourth at the 4A meet held the next day.
Also at the 2A meet, North Lincoln's Amber Wilson took third in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 2 inches, and East Lincoln's girls' 400-meter relay team took sixth with a time of 51.13 seconds.
On the boys' side, East Lincoln scored 17 points behind Keith Rendleman (fifth, triple jump, 43 feet, 3 inches) and Josh McCray (sixth, triple jump, 44 feet, 2.75 inches, and seventh, 200, 22.78 seconds). The Mustangs also took third in the 400 relay and sixth in the 800 relay.
